Despite The Author's basically sound advice, some of his oldest fans obviously started from The Colour of Magic because there weren't any more and it didn't seem to bother them. --Old Dickens (talk) 01:52, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

Yet another

This list might well be sorted according to the preferences of the new reader. Some of the titles are disputed and recommended for the same reasons.

Sourcery
Guards! Guards!
Reaper Man
Wyrd Sisters
Pyramids
Moving Pictures
Small Gods

At this point, the reader may form an opinion as to which series he/she/they/it want(s) to follow.
The Rincewind Series would continue with Eric and Interesting Times.
The Watch Series would continue with Men at Arms and Feet of Clay.
The Death Series diverges to Soul Music or Hogfather.
The Witches Series would continue with Witches Abroad and Lords and Ladies.
Moving Pictures could lead to the Ankh-Morpork Series.

The reader should not yet try the first three books unless he/she/they/it is/are fully committed already. The Colour of Magic, of course, does contain the plans for the Discworld, but it's not as entertaining as the more mature developments. Sir Terry himself said to avoid reading the first books first.
